Plenum 3 (P3)

Teaching and Learning Mathematics Using Anchor Tasks

Using examples from both primary and secondary examples, this plenary lecture outlines a problem-solving approach to teaching mathematics even the basic concepts, skills and ideas. We will see how a single task in a lesson can provide the necessary learning experiences to bring about deep learning. The research and theoretical underpinnings of the approach will be discussed.
